Ellen Friebert Schupper is the Executive Director of ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, a national nonprofit providing one-on-one emotional support and resource navigation for people impacted by breast cancer. Since joining ABCD in 2017, she has led its strategic growth, strengthening partnerships, expanding reach, and enhancing support services for patients, survivors, caregivers, and families.
With a background in nonprofit leadership, marketing, and fundraising, Ellen brings deep expertise in building mission-driven organizations and sustaining community impact. Her passion for women’s health and advocacy is rooted in personal experience: when her father was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2013, she understood firsthand the isolation that caregivers and patients often face. Through her work, she strives to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone.
Ellen grew up in Milwaukee, WI, and has lived and worked in St. Louis, Washington, DC, and Cleveland before returning to Milwaukee to be closer to family. Outside of her role at ABCD, she enjoys a rich family life with her husband, their three sons, and their dog. She also makes time for yoga, live theater, and reading.
